Stockist Spotlight: Liberté in Oklahoma City

Posted by The E on March 26, 2013

Liberte

One of our favorite philanthropic carriers, Liberté, opened its doors (not too mention gorgeous space) in May 2012 to meet a demand for unique, high end clothing and accessories for women. It has only been open for one year and has already accomplished so much!

“Women shouldn’t have to travel to New York, Chicago or even Dallas to find recognized or up-and-coming designers,” owner Danielle Keogh says. “Liberté is a place that will transcend the act of buying clothes into an experience that enhances the unique spirit of the women who live and work in Oklahoma. These are the exclusive fashions you find in the best boutiques in New York.”

At Liberté, they embrace the paradigm of business chic through versatile fashions and accessories that can be worn during the day and easily transformed for night; inspiring strong and intelligent women to make an investment in themselves, their careers and their families. They also support charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Allied Arts.

If you are in the area stop by and shop our collection! Recognize the denim on their homepage? :)

Bands We Love: Rudimental

Posted by The E on March 25, 2013

Rudimental

The British drum and bass quartet recently visited Los Angeles over this past weekend and we were lucky enough to listen to the dance group perform live at the legendary Troubadour club . They are a mix of electronic music with amazing instrumentals — the perfect sound to dance to, and they sounded especially great at the intimate venue. They recently just confirmed the release of their long-awaited debut album called Home will go on sale on April 29. We can’t wait to hear the rest of the album, but meanwhile we will keep on listening to “Not Giving In,” which features vocals by John Newman and Alex Clare.

Em & Sprout

If you’re “feline” a little cat-ty, Em & Sprout has just what you need to get your animal fashion fix. If cats on your feet isn’t what you’re looking for, designer Lindsay does it all from sloths to pandas, and even ghosts. Inspired by her two cats Em & Sprout, this Southern California based designer focuses her craft on screen printing and working with felt, to create one of a kind pieces you won’t find anywhere else.

All of Lindsay’s creations feature her own designs, all handcrafted to perfection. The screen printing seen on her tote bags, t-shirts and other items, are all done as a team effort between her and her husband. Her shoes are store bought, but all embellished with appliques she designs and handcrafts herself.

You can find all of Lindsay’s products at her Etsy Shop, and If you’re feeling a little creative, check out Lindsay’s tutorials on her blog. You can even enter one of her giveaways and get some animal swag, or get the inside scoop on her up and coming products.

Color Inspiration: Dazzling

Grace skinny in Dazzling

It’s the first day of spring, and what better way to celebrate than wearing bright spring colors?! Pink is synonymous with spring, and we have a fabulous new style and pink wash this season, the Grace skinny in Dazzling. It’s a cropped fit, perfect for casual spring and summer outfits, or you can even dress it up with a great pair of heels. The “dazzling” shade was inspired by several tones of pink – from hot pink to a more salmon-y pink – take a look below at some of our photo inspirations for the new color.

Made in the USA: Re-Spin It

Posted by The E on March 18, 2013

Re-Spin it

It’s time to replace your boring dust-collecting wall clock with something a little more unique.  Add an eye-catching piece to your home decor, by switching out your traditional clock for a retro recycled vinyl record.  Sacramento based shop, Re-Spin It, provides just that. David Enos and Daniel Woodson, started the company with the goal of creating great products with as little waste as possible.

David and Daniel are advocates for taking something old and revamping it by recycling! According to the company, digital music is taking over leaving no more use for physical album covers or vinyl.  Re-Spin It not only features recycled clock vinyl, but also features re-purposed album cover notebooks.  For the clocks, the company uses vinyl that has been declared unplayable yet, still has the label in great condition.  The vinyl is then combined with old scrap materials to prevent it from taking up space in landfill.

Clocks are usually 12” in diameter and are mounted onto a stainless steel background.  If you don’t see any products of your favorite artists or bands listed on the shop site, simply email them your request. We are definitely going to take advantage of these amazing collectibles that are all made in the USA.

Artist We Love: Eric Cahan

We are amazed by New York-based artist Eric Cahan’s work. Cahan’s current project, Sky Series, which he  captured on his extensive travels is what caught our attention. Each piece of work is titled by the time and location of its creation. Cahan says it’s almost like a journal to keep track of his travels, “During my travels, I discover what I want to document. My works are titled to remind me of the experience, both visually and spiritually.” As viewers, we get to be part of his journey in a way. We were drawn to this specific photograph, “41.052491,-71.95825 Sunset 8:10pm,” as it essentially tells a color story. Interestingly, Cahan uses Photoshop very little to create the color curves. He uses colored resin filters and holds them in front of the lens while shooting. It takes a specific artist and one that is well-versed to create the work that Cahan creates and we admire him for that.
