The Golden Globes Uniform: Nouveau Classic

Of the hints that the Golden Globes may soon overtake the Oscars as The awards show to watch, the fabulous dresses made quite a strong case last night.

Looks that put a twist on classic Hollywood glam felt particularly right for this new garde event, starting with winner Amy Adams who wore a two-tone red stunner. With a plunging neckline, it could’ve been plucked from the “American Hustler” wardrobe but was in fact by Valentino.

Australian actor Margot Robbie also turned heads in Gucci‘s slit-up-to-there white sheath, embroidered with crystals and emeralds—we love the idea of incorporating fine jewelry into the dress.

Newcomer Lupita Nyong’o wore another red “wow,” hers an off-the-shoulder column with an attached cape. The designer was Ralph Lauren.

Pulling off the baby bump glamorously in forest-green Gucci Première, Olivia Wilde rocked shimmering sequins with gorgeous crystal details at the neck and shoulders.
